What the installer sets up
Froppy uses a managed local AI runtime instead of sending chat to a cloud AI provider. Onboarding and Settings can download the runtime and fixed Qwen GGUF model for generated pet replies.
- Guides local AI setup when the managed runtime or model is missing.
- Downloads the Qwen2.5 1.5B Instruct GGUF Q4_K_M model from the app.
- Offers a checked-by-default start-with-Windows checkbox with opt-out.
- Leaves notes, reminders, settings, pet state, and memories local.
Before you share the preview
The public download flow is direct, but release QA still needs real install evidence before the preview should be broadly promoted.
- Verify the checksum after download.
- Expect Windows SmartScreen warnings until trusted signing is chosen.
- Test Settings > AI after launch, especially slow or blocked local AI setup paths.
